Review and Understand

Reviewing and understanding the outcome is important for measuring success. You get to analyse what went well or what didn’t go well and see how you could improve next time.

Reviewing your outcomes is in strong correlation to your SMART goals that we discussed earlier.

Specific – Did you achieve what you outlined e.g. did you reduce your electricity bill by 5%?

Measurable – Unless you recorded your work at the start you won’t be able to measure your success by the end. Recording results (before and after) is essential to reviewing.

Achievable – Did you set your expectations too high? Remember to start small and then work your way up.

Relevant – Was your original goal relevant to your overall business aim e.g. Getting a higher number of pupil engagement on the Using Less Stuff programme.

Time-bound – This is when you should review your goal e.g. We want to have changed all our light-bulbs to LEDs by 1st January.
